Staffordshire Probation Area wins Public Sector category excellence award.
11th Feb, 2008
Staffordshire Probation Area was a highly commended prize winner in the large public sector category and is the first probation area to achieve the Investors in Excellence (IIE) standard from a large and growing number of private and public sector organisations throughout the UK.
The award was presented to Rob Mandley, Chief Officer and John Beckwith, Information Services Manager, by Martin Johnson, ex-England Rugby Captain and Alan Jones, OBE, Chief Executive of GSL and Chairman of Midlands Excellence, at a spectacular ceremony for more than 1300 guests held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham on the 22 January 2008.
The Midlands Excellence Awards have been held every year since first created in 1997. These prestigious awards recognise excellent all-round performance in categories for large, medium and small private-sector companies and for large and small public sector organisations in the Midlands.
The Area first applied to achieve the Investors in Excellence standard in Autumn 2006, which involved gathering evidence against capability and performance criteria covering key indicators under the categories of leadership, processes, people and customer results. Each piece of evidence was then assessed by an inspection team from Midlands Excellence which combined, provided an indication of the all-round performance of the organisation - based on the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model.
Rob Mandley, Chief Officer, said "We are delighted to have received this prestigious award. It is a reflection of the high quality service provided by our staff in meeting the requirements of our customers. It also provides evidence that we are actively seeking to achieve our vision of being recognised nationally and locally as a leading probation area for both quality and performance."
