Offenders receive achievement awards ...

26th May, 2009

Over 30 offenders attended an Awards Ceremony at Bentilee Neighbourhood Centre this week as part of Adult Learner's Week 2009 run by Stoke on Trent Library Service.

The offenders, supervised by Staffordshire Probation Area, gained awards in Skills for Life, Computer Training, Adult Learner Achievement and Attendance and Progress.

The Awards were presented by Garry Clarke and Robin Moody from Stoke on Trent College and Jayne Stanley, Principal Librarian from the Library Service.  There was also a short address from Bob Simpson, Director of Business Resources for Staffordshire Probation Area.

Bob said, "Attending the awards ceremony was an honour.  All of the offenders have worked hard to receive their awards and should be proud of the progress and achievements they have made.  Also praise should go to the staf at Stoke on Trent College, the Library Service and Staffordshire Probation for their hard work and encouragement in ensuring that these offenders achieve their potential and prepare them for a crime free life.

"The ceremony proved to be a tremendous success and plays an important part in boosting the self esteem of the offenders who participate.  In partnership with the College and the Library Service, Staffordshire Probation will be participating in more of these events in the future."
